(Reported Speech: Statements)
A: “She said that she ___ the meeting yesterday.”

Answer: c) had attended – In reported speech, past tenses often shift further back (Past Perfect for actions before another past time).
(Modals of Possibility)
A: “He ___ be at home. His car isn’t here.”
B: “Let’s call him to check.”
Answer: c) can’t – ‘Can’t’ expresses a strong impossibility based on evidence.
(Comparative Adjectives)
A: “This hotel is ___ than the one we stayed at last time.”
B: “It’s also more comfortable.”
Answer: a) more expensive – Comparative adjectives compare two items or groups.
(Future Continuous)
A: “At this time tomorrow, we ___ our flight to Paris.”
B: “It’s so exciting!”
Answer: a) will be boarding – Future Continuous describes ongoing actions at a future time.
(Conditionals: First)
A: “If it ___ tomorrow, we’ll stay indoors.”
B: “We can watch a movie instead.”
Answer: a) rains – First Conditional uses present simple after ‘if’ to express a possible future condition.
(Passive Voice: Past Continuous)
A: “The room ___ being cleaned when we arrived.”
B: “That’s why we had to wait.”
Answer: a) was – Passive Voice in Past Continuous uses ‘was/were being’ + past participle.
(Prepositions of Movement)
A: “They walked ___ the park to get to the station.”
B: “It’s a lovely shortcut.”
Answer: a) through – ‘Through’ is used to describe movement inside or across a space.
(Gerunds as Subjects)
A: “___ new people is a great way to broaden your horizons.”
B: “I totally agree!”
Answer: b) Meeting – Gerunds are used as the subject of a sentence.
(Infinitives of Purpose)

B: “It’s good to be thorough.”
Answer: a) obtain – Infinitives of purpose use ‘to’ + base verb.
(Future Perfect)

B: “Great! That will save us time.”
Answer: a) will have prepared – Future Perfect describes actions completed before a specific future point.
