(Past Continuous vs. Past Simple)

A: “I ___ dinner when the phone rang.”

B: “Did you answer it?”



Answer: a) was cooking – Past Continuous describes an action in progress at a specific past time.

(Modals of Obligation)

A: “You ___ wear a helmet when riding a bike.”

B: “Safety always comes first.”



Answer: a) must – ‘Must’ expresses a strong obligation or necessity.

(Future Perfect)

A: “By the end of this month, she ___ all her exams.”

B: “She must be so relieved!”



Answer: a) will have completed – Future Perfect is used to describe actions completed before a specific future point.

(Relative Pronouns)

A: “The woman ___ I spoke to was very helpful.”

B: “She must work in customer service.”



Answer: b) whom – ‘Whom’ is the correct relative pronoun to use as the object of the verb.

(Conditional Sentences: Mixed)
