(Present Perfect vs. Past Simple)

A: “___ you ever tried sushi?”

B: “Yes, I ___ it last week.”



Answer: a) Have / tried – Present Perfect is used to ask about experiences; Past Simple indicates when something occurred.

(Third Conditional)

A: “If I ___ more careful, I wouldn’t have lost my wallet.”

B: “That’s unfortunate!”



Answer: b) had been – Third Conditional uses ‘if’ + past perfect to describe hypothetical past situations.

(Adjective Order)

A: “She bought a ___ dress for the party.”

B: “It looks amazing on her!”



Answer: a) new long silk – Correct adjective order is opinion, size, and material.

(Modals of Deduction)

A: “It’s so quiet here. They ___ be home.”

B: “Maybe they’re out shopping.”



Answer: b) can’t – ‘Can’t’ is used for strong negative deductions.
